Majella National Park is outstanding area for wild flowers and it is one of life's great pleasures to walk among them. Every color of the rainbow seems to be represented from mid May to end of June when the flora is at its best. We organise wild flower walks with a dedicated enthusiast who has an intimate knowledge of the flora and who will help you find the profuse, the spectacular and the rare or you can decide to be completely free to do whatever you choose each day, depending on how your feel.

On a few occasions, these walks will be 'static'; in other words, instead of walking a prescribed route, the day is spent in one location of specific excellence. Our wildflower enthusiasts are often accomplished floral photographers and will be pleased to help you capture these exquisite subjects.

There are regular flights by Ryanair from Stansted * and worldwide to Pescara in Italy which brings you to less than an hour’s drive of the magnificent Majella National Park.

Pescara Airport is now offering direct flights from London, Paris, Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, Kiev, Moscow, New York and Toronto as low cost flights.
Rome Ciampino is only a 2.3 hours drive.

WHEN TO VISIT

Best time for rare wild flowers lovers is from 20th May to 10th July, when the slopes of the Majella are literally covered with a colorful wild orchids carpet.

The Majella National Park offers its visitors a scenery of extraordinary beauty in every season:

late in Spring flowers and trees blossom - this is the best time of the year, together with Autumn, to visit ancient villages and hermitages. Summer is the best season to walk along the paths. October is enchanting with its multicolored beech woods and it preludes to winter and its suggestive snow-covered landscapes.

A week of walking from Caramanico in search of wild flowers in the surrounding mountains was a truly wonderful experience. The flowers exceeded my wildest dreams and the clouds of butterflies were a bonus. The hotel was comfortable and friendly, providing us with lashings of delicious local food. Our picnic lunches were imaginative and very tasty. Albina chose a different walk each day to show us this stunning and largely undiscovered region of Majella.
